"I was not at battle with my body. Instead of making an enemy out of a disease what if we can work with it and work towards solving why it happens and putting things right?"
Sophie Trew, 23 year-old cancer survivor + founder of Trew Health
"Cancer Language” is the third episode of the “Trew Health” short doc series following the journey of Sophie Trew, a cancer survivor that has become an inspiration for those living with cancer - and without it.
Sophie believes the aggressive narrative and language used in connection to cancer needs to change. Often, a cancer diagnosis can overtake a patient's identity. The dialogue and language around cancer are usually responsible for this.
In this episode of Trew Health, Sophie challenges this. In her view, by changing the way we speak about cancer, we will change our attitudes towards it. What if instead we focus on the causes and work towards solving why it happens?
Filming took place in Surrey during the first Trew Fields Festival - The World's First Cancer Awareness & Holistic Health Festival.
