“Globally there are fires present all over the planet, but generally you only hear about the ones which are in high population centers. The impact of these fires on air quality and climate are important to understand, but challenging to predict easily.”
Martin Wooster, Professor of Earth Observation Science, King’s College Geography Department.
King’s College Geography Department contacted DOCCO for the creation of a short documentary, highlighting their cutting-edge research on Earth Observation and landscape fires and their impacts on earth. The project is being developed in partnership with NASA.
It seeks to understand and measure the role of fire in the Earth system, including its effect on the land and on the atmosphere, whilst highlighting the diverse skills that make up the Kings' team.
Their expertise ranging from satellite retrieval algorithms, field work, airborne validation campaigns and laboratory studies all working together in order to meet this single aim of understanding the factors that govern wildfire regimes.
