"Well my life is quite ordinary and nothing special about me"

Stanley Stoner, 94 year-old Larchfield House resident

“Caring for Britain” is a short doc series produced by DOCCO for Larchfield House, a leading care home specialised in dementia care based in Maidenhead, England. The series was filmed during the UK's first Lockdown due to COVID 19 and follows the different characters that make up the care home, from managers to residents and caretakers.

"Stanley's Story" is a portrait documentary celebrating the life of Stanley Stoner, a resident at Larchfield House. The film uncovers key chapters, powerful anecdotes and the personal history of this Scotsman. Not to be defined by his dementia, Stan's doc aims to look beyond the illness; revealing a life led full and rich of experiences and memories to be treasured.

Utilising and bringing to life family albums, and interviews, an intimate personal portrait is sketched out. In the process of creating the film, the documentary served to act as a care tool for family members and our resident to connect over.
